Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a break-in at 1014 Rapids Street and an attempted break-in at 1010 Rapids Street.

The homeowner at 1014 Rapids Street was the victim of a break-in in July, according to Captain Andy Jackson.

Entry was gained by prying a window open and there was an attempt made to pry open a second window.

The crime occurred sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday. Taken was a laptop, an HP mini laptop, a Samsung projection TV, a Samsung DVD player, movies, a PlayStation 2, PlayStation 2 games and a gold chain.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.

Let me get this straight....there was a break-in on the 1000 block of Rapids st between Tuesday and Wednesday...now wasn't Tuesday and Wednesday the 2 days that the police from RR, Weldon, Garysburg, Seaboard and all around were in the parking lot across the street from the church on the 900-1000 block of Rapids st??? Someone please correct me if I am wrong on these days, but I remember riding by and thinking wow there sure are a lot of cops in that parking lot I wonder what is going on...NOW I see that someone broke into a home RIGHT UNDER THE POLICE'S NOSES????

I gues the RR PD was too busy busting small time pot growers to stop the break-ins.
