Captain James Avens said the assault and robbery occurred shortly after 11 p.m. when Herman Lee “Smurf” Edwards Jr., 28, allegedly assaulted the victim in the head with a pistol and took his money.
Avens said the victim was treated and released from Halifax Regional Medical Center.
Edwards is considered armed and dangerous and frequents the Weldon area.
He stands 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs approximately 170 pounds.
