A part-time Scotland Neck police officer was arrested Tuesday on domestic violence charges, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Lieutenant Bobby Martin said deputies responded to Highway 48 in the Glenview community on a disturbance call about a man threatening to harm himself.

Martin said Lieutenant Chuck Hasty learned Bruce W. Perry, 40, was wanted on an outstanding warrant for domestic issues.

Hasty and other deputies could not initially locate Perry but found him at another location down the road talking on a cell phone while on the front porch. Hasty told Perry he was under arrest but the man did not comply. He was tased and taken into custody. He was charged with domestic communicating threats, resist, delay and obstruct an officer and served with a domestic violence ex-parte order.

Perry was jailed without bond and has a June 9 court date.
