One man has been arrested in a shooting at the Green Store Monday but Halifax County Sheriff’s Office investigators continue to look for the shooter, Detective Doug Pilgreen told The Spin this morning.

Quante Scott, 30, of the Littleton area, has been arrested and charged with accessory after the fact of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, accessory after the fact of attempted armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and resist, delay and obstruct law enforcement officers.

Pilgreen said in a news release the charges were filed after the investigation revealed Scott allegedly removed a firearm from the scene of the crime and refused to cooperate with law enforcement in locating the weapon.

Deputies later located the weapon.

Scott was placed in jail under a $50,000 bond and has a court date of Nov. 11.

Meanwhile, the sheriff’s office continues to investigate the 3 p.m. shooting, which occurred outside the store located off Highway 48 outside Roanoke Rapids.

The victim stated he was leaving the Green Store and was attempting to pull out onto the highway. While waiting for traffic, a gray Honda pulled up beside him. A person described as a black male jumped out with a handgun and demanded money.

The victim was shot in the leg. A struggle ensued and the suspect jumped into his car and fled the scene.

The suspect is described as standing 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 7 1/2 inches tall. He had brown skin and was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and blue jacket.

The victim was transported to Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids and later transported to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
