The temporary managers of the Roanoke Rapids Theatre have announced Old Crow Medicine Show will be the first act at the venue. The show will be November 11 at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets go on sale Friday through Ticket Fly — www.ticketfly.com.

Old Crow Medicine has sold more than 500,000 albums and has appeared on various shows including Austin City Limits and Late Night.

They have performed on A Prairie Home Companion and the Grand Ole Opry.

“Old Crow Medicine Show attributes much of their success to their relentless touring schedule,” a press release from Outback Concerts says. “Between headlining shows and countless festivals, the band is constantly on the road and thrives off their fans and live shows.”

The press release says the band has made a name for itself, “As energetic performers with an unbridled spirit.”

The band will perform on A Prairie Home Companion’s Live in HD, which will beam a high definition feed from the Fitzgerald Theater in Saint Paul to more than 520 movie theaters across the United States and Canada on October 21.

The band recently returned from Europe where they opened for Mumford & Sons in September and have also recorded Angel From Montgomery for Broken Hearts and Dirty Wings, Songs of John Prine to celebrate Prine’s influence and musical catalog.

Emmylou Harris loves the band’s music and Garrison Keillor says they, “Are one of the greatest bands that A Prairie Home Companion has ever had the pleasure to host.”

Norah Jones calls their live show amazing and Gillian Welch says, “It’s so extraordinary to hear a band where there are three good singers, their harmonies remind me of the Dead or The Band.”

Rolling Stone says Old Crow Medicine Show marries old fashioned string music with punk swagger.

“Bluegrass has been a constant request,” said Elizabeth Branham, who along with Gil Cunningham, will temporarily manage the venue.
