Lieutenant Chuck Hasty said deputies responded to Highway 561 in the Hollister Community about a possible breaking and entering in progress.
The victim told deputies that he saw two men stealing rims from his property and the men ran off.
Deputy Jason Keeter and Brody deployed from the victim’s residence and began to track the suspects.
Brody found one suspect hiding in the woods about three quarters of a mile away from the victim’s house.
Gregory O’Neal Bowden, 24, of Littleton was taken into custody by Deputy Keeter and Detective Tyree Davis without incident.
Detective Davis charged Bowden with larceny and he was given a $5,000 bond and January 19 court date,
"The victim did a great job in the incident, the victim got a good description of the subjects and direction of travel and did not try to approach them but kept them in sight as long as possible without putting himself in danger," Hasty said.
Hasty said there was also cooperation from different agencies to keep the area saturated. The state Highway Patrol, Nash County Sheriff's Office and the state Department of Correction assisted.
The investigation continues into the identification of the second subject, who may have left the area in a vehicle.
