A Scotland Neck man was charged Monday for committing a sex act with a juvenile who he allegedly persuaded to meet him through a social networking site.

Darrick Lamont Augborn, 25, faces a charge of statutory sex offense of a person 13, 14, and 15, second degree kidnapping and indecent liberties with a minor.

Detective Roy Rooks of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Augborn met the juvenile on MySpace and got him to meet him.

During the meeting Rooks said the man committed sexual acts against the child.

Nice job sherrifs, but why weren't the parents monitoring how their minor child was using the Internet and e-mail?
