Jefferson. Jefferson.

A Roanoke Rapids man arrested in September for indecent liberties with a minor is wanted on similar counts that allegedly occurred Saturday.

Lieutenant Bobby Martin of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Grady Jefferson Jr., 42, is wanted for indecent liberties with a minor and assault with a deadly weapon.
The charges stem from complaints by two different children Saturday.
Deputy Charlie Jenkins responded to the P&J Trailer Park area after receiving a call about Jefferson inappropriately touching a child.
The child told their mother Jefferson touched them against their will and the mother called law enforcement.
During his investigation Jenkins discovered Jefferson also allegedly asked a child for a hug. The juvenile said no and Jefferson, a registered sex offender, allegedly pulled out a knife and began chasing the child.
In September Jefferson was caught Tuesday hiding in a closet during an investigation into an indecent liberties charges.
He was located at 119 Ward Drive in Roanoke Rapids and charged. In 1998 he was convicted of attempted taking indecent liberties with a minor.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at 252-583-8051 or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
