Lieutenant Bobby Martin of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said a call was received a man was loading items from the break in into a trash can.
The man, who was identified as Akeem Williams, 19, was transporting the items to his home using the trash can. The call was received shortly before 12:30 p.m.
Martin said Williams made two trips with the trash can, a rollout container. He would roll the can to his house, which was about a block and a half away from the crime scene and put the items in the trunk of his car.
Included in the stolen items were two window air conditioning units, a DVD player and other electronics.
When Martin, Lieutenant George Evans and Deputy Josh Clark arrived, they did a search of the area and located Williams, who matched the witness description.
The officers found a trash can with the victim's property in it and also found items in the trunk of Williams' car.
Evans charged Williams with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods and Injury to property.
Williams was jailed on $1,000 bond and has a January 19 court date.
