The house. The house.

A Weldon man was shot this evening while parked at a house at Ransome Circle the town’s police department is targeting for nuisance abatement.

Chief Mark Macon said the police department received a call around 5:50 that Luther Terry was shot twice while he sat in a parked car at 209 Ransome Circle, hit in the upper body with bullets from a small caliber, semiautomatic weapon.

Terry was presumably shot by Alphonso “Tyson” Williams while his brother, Michael “Mike Mike” Ponton Jr. allegedly stood by, Macon said.

The two men fled the scene, Williams on a white Lincoln and Ponton on a burgundy Pontiac.

Terry is in what Macon described as critical condition.

Williams is described as a black make standing between 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 240 pounds.

Ponton is described as a black weighing between 140 to 150 pounds.

The shooting was over a dispute involving money, Macon said.

Over the past week, police have responded to a shots fired and fight call at the house, which is called the Community House where there are cookouts and other gatherings for people in the community.

The house has a seedy side, Macon told rrspin.com in October, shooting calls, rapes, murders and drug dealing. Officers also jokingly call the house the Weldon PD substation.

Anyone with information on the shooting is encouraged to call the police department at 252-536-3136 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.

there are houses and hotels all over roanoke rapids that all this goes on.it should be a capital offense to deal drugs.these young girls these guys get on drugs so they can do whatever they want to ought to be castrated.parents should have more say in who their kids run with til they get 18.now a parent is a racist if they try to keep their daughters away from black guys.but, when most are pushing drugs and finding the easy way to make a buck i don't blame them.

Just out of curiousity, what is it going to take for the city of Weldon or Halifax County to shut that place down? As in, what has to occur before they can move forward with that? Is it a paperwork thing, enough evidence of the place causing more harm than good, or what? I know the city and COunty want it gone, but how long before they can actually take that property and destroy it?
