A man who stopped to make a transaction at an ATM was confronted by a person who appeared to have an object in his hand but safely sped away, according to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

Captain Andy Jackson said the man was at the State Employees Credit Union on Old Farm Road shortly after 9 p.m. November 19. When he reached to get something on his car seat, he was approached by a black male who had something in his hand, although it could not be determined if it was a gun.

When the man sped off, he saw three to five more young males wearing hoods standing around. While leaving the area, one of the people threw something at the vehicle, striking it.

The young men ran to the road at the Jameson Inn.

Jackson said the potential victim did the right thing. “He rolled up the window and took off. He didn’t give it a second thought.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.

That;s why I have a concealed weapons permit... it's the perfect holiday gift for ghetto thugs too lazy to apply for a job, and too ignorant to hold down the fry position they had at McDonald's. I would have at least shot one of them, or in this case, maybe turned around down the road a bit, and raced back and hit one with the car. THAT would have been hilarious!!
