A Wednesday night shooting victim is in stable condition at an undisclosed hospital, the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said.

Detective Doug Pilgreen said the shooting occurred shortly after 7:15 in an area off Highway 301 and Dogwood Drive known as The Cut.

Pilgreen said the victim was walking through The Cut — a wooded hangout used to go from the housing projects to Eleventh Street — when he felt a sting in his backside and realized he was shot multiple times.

Deputies found the victim on Dogwood Drive.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting may call the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office at 252-583-8051 or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
