A joint investigation has led to the arrest of a Roanoke Rapids man on a count of sexual battery on a child and multiple charges of the same offense in Florida.

Terry Lee Conner, 36, was arrested Sunday following an investigation by city police, Palm Beach police and the State Bureau of Investigation, Deputy Chief Adam Bondarek said this morning.

Conner was being held in the Halifax County Jail on $100,000 bond as he awaits extradition to Florida.

The Florida case involves allegations from when Conner lived there eight years ago. Bondarek said it was not clear how long Conner had been living in Roanoke Rapids.

Conner allegedly admitted his role, Bondarek said, saying the case involved preteen children.
