Halifax County Sheriff’s Office deputies J.M. Clark and Christopher Boden responded to the Colonial Drive area of Roanoke Rapids and found the suspect, Perry O’Neil Jones, was gone.
Lieutenant Chuck Hasty said deputies and Roanoke Rapids Police Officer Chris Babb secured the area until a dog could arrive.
Deputy Justin Keeter and his dog Brody arrived on the scene and began to run a track for the suspect.
As the track was being followed Clark and Stanley Rodwell located Jones at his house and took him into custody without incident.
Detective Roy Rooks continued the investigation and charged Jones with second degree sexual offense, breaking and entering, first degree trespass and injury to real property.
Hasty said the sexual offense charge involved inappropriate touching.
Rooks also served two outstanding warrants on Jones for assault on a female and second degree trespass for an earlier incident in Roanoke Rapids.
Jones was given a bond of $105,000 and his court dates are April 19 and May 25.
