A shots fired call Monday led to the arrest of a Roanoke Rapids man on marijuana charges.

Detective Tyree Davis of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said deputies C. Emerson Carroll, Herbert Williams and Harold Phillips along with Trooper Brian Simmons responded to a residence on Roberts Road in Roanoke Rapids.

They responded to a call about shots being fired at the residence. While investigating the case Williams discovered marijuana plants growing beside the home.

The marijuana, which Davis said had a street value of $12,000, was seized and Leslie D. Hawkins, 63, was charged with manufacture marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was jailed on $500 bond and has a July 5 court date.
