Davis Davis Halifax County Sheriff's Office

A Maryland man has been charged with a showing a minor relative a pornographic photo and attempting to have sex with the child, according to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.

Major Bruce Temple said an investigation by deputies within the last week of allegations led to the arrest Tuesday of Roland Anthony Davis, 39, a former Roanoke Rapids resident.

Deputies H. Phillips and H. Williams, along with Detective C. Carroll, charged Davis with felony conspiracy, felony dissemination of obscenity, impersonating a police officer, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and attempted incest.

Temple confirmed the minor was a relative but would not elaborate. He declined to elaborate on the photo as well.

The charge of impersonating a police officer stems from Davis' contact with the Halifax communications center to gather information on the ongoing investigation, Temple said.

Davis is in the county jail in lieu of $30,000 bond.
