A man was cut with a box cutter during a break-in that is domestic related.

Lieutenant Chuck Hasty of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said the burglary occurred around 4 a.m. today at a house off Silvertown Road in Enfield.

Deputies Emerson Carroll and Eric Johnson, along with Hasty, arrived at the house and found the homeowner hiding in the bathroom while the man who was arrested, Lucas Lorenzo Richardson, was sitting on the floor in front of the bathroom.

Hasty told rrspin.com this afternoon the homeowner was his former girlfriend and he was talking to her through the door.

Richardson, 25, was detained while Carroll led the investigation and determined Richardson allegedly assaulted a man inside the house. The man assaulted, in the presence of a child, was the boyfriend of the homeowner’s friend, Hasty said. Richardson and the man apparently got into an argument. The man was not seriously injured.

Richardson also allegedly assaulted his former girlfriend, Hasty said.

Richardson, of Littleton, was charged with first degree burglary, assault on a female, injury to property, assault with a deadly weapon with a minor present, simple affray and communicating threats.

Richardson was jailed without bond and has an October 26 court date.
