A chase Sunday by Weldon officers led to the arrest of a Gaston man who claimed he was hanging out at an abandoned warehouse on Shepard Street to clear his head.

Captain James Avens said Anthony James Taylor, 31, fled in a car when he saw officers Chris Buffaloe and Erin Gregory come to investigate.

He led them on a chase up Interstate 95 which ended when he crashed at the 176 exit in Gaston.

The officers charged him with felony flee to elude arrest. He was jailed on $5,000 bond and has a May 18 court date.

The only reason Taylor gave for hanging out at the warehouse was he was clearing his head, Avens said.
