Detective Doug Pilgreen said Deputy Danny Radford Tuesday went to Westwood Drive in Roanoke Rapids after being called to investigate the matter.
His investigation resulted in the recovery of the purse and the arrest of Adriane Deamaine Pender, 22, of Roanoke Rapids.
Pender was charged with larceny and possession of stolen goods. He was jailed on $2,000 bond and has a September 21 court date.
