Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said Officer Mike Moseley was dispatched to the construction site on Jesslyn’s Drive behind Pope Funeral Home Sunday night.
The contractor arrived at the site shortly after 7 p.m. and a person later identified as Grant Lee Taylor, 23, was seen running away, leaving his truck on and a door open.
The contractor also discovered two dishwashers still in their boxes were placed outside and back apartment windows opened.
Moseley charged Taylor with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny after breaking and entering, one count possession of burglary tools for a set of bolt cutters found and one count possession of drug paraphernalia — a crack pipe.
Taylor has an April 13 court date.
