Detective Roy Rooks of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said Lieutenant George Evans arrested Preston Richardson on an outstanding warrant. Richardson was jailed on $1 million bond.
Richardson, who also faces a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, allegedly gave the child marijuana and beer before having sexual intercourse with them, Rooks said his investigation revealed.
Rooks told rrspin.com tonight the offenses allegedly occurred on December 26, 2008. Attempts to locate Richardson then were unsuccessful and he was entered as a wanted person.
Since then Rooks said Richardson was lying low. The arrest occurred when Evans went to Richardson’s house on another call and used the NC Automated Repository which flagged him as wanted.
Rooks said the male victim was 12 at the time of the offense.
Richardson has a September 1 court date.
