Darinel Rojas Faviel, of the 900 block of Hamilton, faces charges of burglary, aggravated assault on an officer, one count of resisting arrest, communicating threats and two warrants for contempt of court.
His arrest occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. when he apparently thought he was at his own house or girlfriend's house and knocked out a window and kicked the bottom panel of the storm door out, according to Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.
When Officer David Brown arrived at the house in the 1200 block of Hamilton Street, he heard yelling and screaming and observed two of the occupants holding knives to fend Faviel off. Brown recognized him as a person he was looking for and as he approached to handcuff him the man resisted. He was told in English and Spanish he was being arrested by police but continued resisting and kicking.
It took efforts from Brown, officers Lee Mason and G. Williams and Sergeant Winnie Bowen to get leg irons on him to deter the kicking.
Even in leg irons he still attempted to kick on spit on EMS workers.
He was jailed on $200,200 bond and has a January 25 court date.
