On July 5, Jackie Lynn Braddy,36, reported his Cub Cadet riding lawn mower had been stolen.
The investigation alleges Braddy had a roofer to do some work on his house. The insurance company sent a check to Braddy and he forged the roofing company’s name on the check and cashed it.
Braddy gave the Cub Cadet riding lawn mower to the owner of the roofing company for payment.
Braddy then filed a fraudulent insurance claim with his insurance company.
Agent James Ayers with the North Carolina Department of Insurance arrested Braddy on fraud charges and he was jailed under a $5,000 bond.
Detective Sergeant Doug Pilgreen of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office arrested Braddy for forgery of endorsement and filing a false police report. He received a $2,500 bond for those crimes and has a court date of Oct. 14.
