A Roanoke Rapids man has been charged with never finishing upholstery work for a Christian college in the city he was supposed to do in March, according to a news release from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Detective Doug Pilgreen said on Aug. 22, Deputy Justin Matthews responded to Eastern Carolina Christian College because the school complained it paid for some upholstery work and the work was never finished.

The report alleges the college paid Walter Harvey Jr. to do upholstery work on some chairs in March. The work was never finished and the chairs were not returned to the college. Pilgreen arrested Harvey, 49, and charged him with obtaining property by false pretense. He was placed under a $1,500 bond and has an Oct. 14 court date
