Deputy Chief Adam Bondarek said Haywaun Hyman, 23, is charged with two counts of second-degree kidnapping, one count of first-degree burglary and one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.
He was jailed on $50,000 bond and has an August 25 court date.
Bondarek said the kidnapping charges reflect Hyman restricted the movement of the victims.
The crime occurred in the no hundred block of Jackson Street when people described as three black males broke into the house armed with knives and demanded sneakers and cash. They left with an undisclosed amount of money and property. No one was injured.
The case remains under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-533-2810 or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
