Spence Spence Halifax County Sheriff's Office

The victim of an alleged domestic violence dispute is recovering from injuries she received Wednesday.

Halifax County Sheriff's Office Detective Joe Sealey said Deputy T. Clark was called to Halifax Regional Medical Center which informed him an assault victim had been transported there.

Lieutenant Bobby Martin said the victim was allegedly struck with a blunt object and received injuries to her body and face.

Through Clark's investigation he arrested 47-year-old Raymond Mitchell Spence of the Roanoke Rapids area.

He was charged with felony assault on a female and felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

Because the crime was domestic, Sealey said Spence is in jail without the opportunity for bond and is awaiting a January 25 court date.

My son was assaulted by Mitch Spence in 1994, by a bat and his fists. Mitch's choice of weapons. My son was in a coma for several months and in rehab. for 2 years. Mitch spent 8 months in prison, why so little time, because Mitch said he kicked him with bare feet and hit him with an open hand, and there was no one to testify against him. Honestly would this cause the sever damage my son suffered and continues to suffer. My son was Mitch's 10th victim, after his release 3 more fell victim by his hands. What number does this latest victim fall under. I will be setting in court when he goes and hopefully as many of his victims as I can find. Maybe now we can have closure and he will get what he deserves.

Apologize for the posting error. If you happen to write a previously used headline it will pick up the story that goes with the old headline. Thanks for catching this.

Man...I sincerely hope that this guy gets some seriously hard time. I don't care if your partner hurts you deeply, domestic violence does not solve anything..period.
