Man charged in 10th Street shooting

A shooting outside a convenience store Wednesday night left the victim in stable condition and the alleged shooter in jail.

Rynel Tyreek Gaines, 20, of Gaston, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and discharging a firearm in the city limits.

Deputy Chief Adam Bondarek of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said Gaines and the victim got into an argument around midnight at Big Al’s on West Tenth Street. Gaines allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim, whose name police declined to release.

Investigators located Gaines and charged him. He was jailed on $10,000 bond and has a September 22 court date.

The victim was hospitalized and is in stable condition. Bondarek declined to discuss what the argument was about.

Image that!! A shooting in that area of town..people need to get a JOB or go to SCHOOL for an education maybe then they will not have time to stand around a store shooting people
