The Spin and its news partner WPTM first reported today Troy Lee Banks, 35, was found hiding in a bathroom at a house on Emory Street.
Banks allegedly robbed the store shortly before 1:30 this morning, Deputy Chief Adam Bondarek said, grabbing cash and fleeing the store on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.
Roanoke Rapids police were assisted by a canine from the Weldon Police Department. Bondarek said evidence was seized at the Emory Street residence.
Banks was released from prison Wednesday and was returned to jail this morning on an $8,000 bond for the Presto robbery. His court date is Nov. 18.
