A Roanoke Rapids man sustained multiple stab wounds during a dispute at an apartment in the 200 block of Roanoke Avenue Saturday morning.

The man was transported to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville where he was listed in stable condition, according to Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

The victim apparently tried to intervene in a fight between his mother and 29-year-old Stafford Daniels, who was charged in the stabbing.

Daniels, of Oak Street, allegedly used a knife to stab the victim numerous times shortly after 1:15 a.m.

Daniels left the apartment and was arrested in the 200 block of Jefferson Street by Officer Gerald Morris.

He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and jailed on $500,000 bond.
