Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said Allen Michael Johnson, 23, of Cedar Street, faces charges of discharging a weapon in the city limits, possession of a concealed weapon, carrying a gun at an establishment where alcohol is served and possession of a weapon while intoxicated.

Johnson was at Applebee’s shortly after midnight when he was asked to leave by an officer doing security work at the restaurant because he was causing a disturbance.

He left and as the person he was with drove by the former CiCi’s Pizza building he fired shots into the air.

Officer Roy Ball was nearby and he and Officer Duane Daniels stopped the vehicle. They found the gun and three shell casings.

Johnson was jailed on $2,500 bond and has a May 27 court date.
