Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said Jack Patel faces charges from May 16 and was arrested again today.
The first case stems from the investigation of a scooter stolen from Carriage Hill Apartments.
Lieutenant O.L. Morgan of D Squad observed a scooter matching the description at Patel’s house in the 700 block of West Fifth Street as well as a person pushing the scooter to the man’s house.
Police arrested the man pushing the scooter, Travis Donnel Harvey, 24, and charged him with possession of stolen property.
Officers found another scooter stolen from Northampton County at Patel’s house along with drug paraphernalia, including a crack pipe, rolling papers and marijuana seeds. They charged Patel with possessing, concealing stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Several weed trimmers were also found but it has not been confirmed if they were stolen.
Today Patel was charged with another count of possession of stolen goods after investigation by C Squad and the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office revealed additional stolen goods at a house owned by the man on Carolina Rest Home Road. The officers discovered a stolen John Deere riding lawn mower and a Murray riding lawn mower which has not been confirmed as stolen. The John Deere was returned to the owner.
Anyone who is missing weed trimmers or the Murray lawn mower is encouraged to call Detective Frankie Griffin at 252-533-2821.
