Courtney Demond Lynch, 33, of Roanoke Rapids, faces the following Halifax County charges, according to Detective J. Sealey of the sheriff's office: Three counts felony possession of stolen property, three counts of felony possession of stolen firearms, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, manufacturing marijuana and an order for arrest for failing to appear in court on unrelated charges.
Lynch was also served a fugitive warrant from Mecklenburg County, Virginia, for two counts of felony breaking and entering and two counts of grand larceny resulting from the investigation. He has a September 7 court date.
Two victims from Mecklenburg County have already been identified in the probe as well as a third victim from Macon in Warren County, Sealey said. More than 40 items have been returned to the victims in the case.
The Virginia charges reflect that Lynch was allegedly involved in the break-ins and Sealey said the investigation continues. “This investigation is in no way over and in some areas is only just beginning. More charges and additional suspects are expected before this case comes to fruition.”
Discovery of the items came after Deputy H. Phillips received a tip stolen weapons were at Lynch's house. Phillips, Sealey and Detective E. Carroll went to the house and were assisted by investigators from Mecklenburg County.
