The Weldon Police Department is still waiting for new leads and tracking old leads in the theft of guns from an armory at Halifax Community College where basic law enforcement training weapons were stored.

Lieutenant James Avens said the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is involved in the investigation.

The crime most likely occurred sometime between Friday night, July 23, and Monday morning, July 26.

Police have declined to disclose the number of weapons taken. Forced entry was used to get the weapons.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-536-3136 or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
