A 15-year-old juvenile was caught this morning allegedly breaking into unlocked vehicles in the 300 and 400 blocks of Rapids and Cedar streets, according to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

Around 7 a.m. the juvenile was spotted by a citizen who notified police. The boy was apprehended by Lieutenant Perry Parks and Officer Lee Mason.

At least three vehicles were broken into this morning, according to Captain Andy Jackson. Investigation into the case continues.

Jackson said the youth recently went through the juvenile court system for the same crime.

There have been at least a half dozen similar break-ins in the area where wallets, fishing tackle and other items of value were taken from vehicles.

The boy was taken to a juvenile holding facility.
