Jones wins 6B court seat

Thomas L. Jones Jr., a longtime defense attorney defeated incumbent Al Kwasikpui in 6B District Court race.

Jones collected 11,570 votes, according to unofficial returns, while Kwasikpui got 7,649.

Judge Kwasikpui has served as a District Court Judge for nearly 20 years, having been first elected to the post in 1990. He was chosen as Chief District Court Judge in 1991.

Jones has 30 years of experience as an attorney and operates a law firm in Murfreesboro.

 

In other Northampton County races:

 

Incumbent Sheriff Wardie Vincent defeated Tommy Byrum Sr. by a 4,672 to 2,380 margin.

 

Incumbent Robert Carter defeated John Wood in the commissioners race, 4,250 to 3,274.

 

In the clerk of court race, Laquitta Cooper defeated Caroline Long, 4,306 to 3,259.
