Lieutenant Bobby Martin said Charles “Oopsie” Hockaday came to the sheriff’s office this morning around 7:15.
Hockaday faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, two counts of assault, possession of a firearm by a felon and discharging a firearm into occupied property. He was jailed on $500,000 bond.
The sheriff’s office continues to look for Alston Lamont Parker. Martin said it is not clear on where he may be.
Hockaday was being sought and Parker is being sought in a Sunday shooting that left a Roanoke Rapids woman in stable condition with gunshot wounds to her chest and arm.
The woman, Mary Graham, is the mother of Corey Graham, who was gunned down and killed in a convenience store parking in March. Martin said Hockaday and Mrs. Graham have had trouble in the past but there is no connection between Hockaday and Mr. Graham’s murder.
The shooting occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. in the Music City Trailer Park off Heritage Lane.
Martin said the shooting occurred as Mrs. Graham and two other people were driving through the trailer park, which is located off Highway 48 in Roanoke Rapids.
Words were exchanged and shots were fired from a handgun, Martin said.
It is not clear what the argument was about.
Parker is described as a black male standing 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds. He has brown eyes and brown hair with dark skin.
