A distressed 911 call Wednesday led Halifax County Sheriff’s Office deputies to arrest a man on domestic violence charges.

Lieutenant Bobby Martin said the first call was a 911 hangup call near Roper Springs and Summit roads east of Littleton.

A man identified as Clarence McCoy Bailey, 29, of Littleton, kicked in the woman’s front door and allegedly assaulted her. The phone went dead.

Moments later, however, the woman called 911 back and said she got out of the house and needed a deputy.

Further investigation by Detective James Matthews led to Bailey’s arrest on charges of felony assault by strangulation, felony breaking and entering, injury to real property, injury to personal property and carrying a concealed weapon.

Bailey was transported by Deputy Joe Puhak and jailed on no bond. He has a June 30 court date
