The Rev. James D. Bell of Rosemary United Methodist Church delivered the prayer of dedication in front of employees of Halifax Regional who donated their time to restore the chapel.
Funds for the restoration came from a grant from the Halifax Regional Foundation. “The Foundation is supported by employees and the community who want to enhance the quality of healthcare in our region,” said Geoffrey Hardee, coordinator of the Foundation.
“I am delighted to be part of an organization that cares about the spiritual needs of patients, their families and employees, as well as their physical needs,” added Hardee.
Edith Oates was a longtime employee of Branch Funeral Home, which donated funds for the chapel many years ago.
The chapel now has a welcoming atmosphere for meditation and prayer. The restoration includes new wall coverings, curtains, ceiling tiles and carpet. The pew and chair fabric was replaced, providing a completely new look for the chapel.
The chapel is open every day for patients, their families and employees.
