Gaston man dies in wreck

An 84-year-old Gaston man involved in a single vehicle wreck on East Tenth Street Thursday morning is believed to have died from an existing medical condition.

According to a report by Officer Lee Mason, Edward Hunt was apparently leaving the area of Bojangles' when his 2003 Chevrolet went across the roadway and struck a guide wire at Bone's.

The report indicates Hunt was coding and EMS were on the scene shortly before 8:30.

Hunt died at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Captain Andy Jackson confirmed authorities believe Hunt died from an existing medical condition.
