Emporia woman faces drug counts

An Emporia woman was arrested Monday for drug violations following a stop by a Halifax County Sheriff's Office deputy.

Lieutenant Chuck Hasty said Deputy C.E. Carroll stopped Lekisha Daunette Powell-Brooks, 38, for a traffic violation.

During the stop Deputy Carroll conducted a search and located cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Deputy Carroll charged Powell-Brooks with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and prescription label not present.

Powell-Brooks was given a $2,000 bond and a court date of June 6.
