Officers in an unmarked Ford Explorer were going to the concert site a Carolina Crossroads when one of them recognized a truck behind them Edwards is known to drive, Captain Andy Jackson said.
The officers pulled to the side of the road to let the truck pass them and recognized Edwards. The officers gave chase and Edwards pulled his vehicle over near the concert site, got out and fled on foot.
Edwards, 33, was caught around 10 this morning and was still being booked at the Halifax County Magistrate's Office in Halifax, Jackson said. He said it appeared Edwards stayed in the area ducking police since warrants were issued for his arrest earlier this month. It was not clear why he was in that area.
Edwards faces outstanding charges for the Clayton Homes break in and a charge of resisting arrest. He joins William Joseph Love and Theodore Nicholas Papaloglou as arrestees in the case.
Love, of Liles Road, was charged following a traffic stop by Weldon Officer Erin Gregory, who was aware of the outstanding warrants against him.
Love faces charges of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen property, obtaining property by false pretense and conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense.
He is currently awaiting a July 27 court date.
Edwards faces charges of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods and conspiracy to obtain property by false pretense and the charge from today.
Meanwhile, Papouloglou, of Scott Street, faces a charge of receiving stolen property.
Jackson confirmed that some $3,800 worth of appliances and furniture allegedly stolen from the business on April 30 was recovered at Papouloglou's home.
The inventory of items recovered includes a sofa, love seat, coffee table, two end tables, a GE refrigerator and stove, a wing bed, mattress and box springs, a nightstand and armoire.
It is believed a truck was used to haul the items away after they were stolen.
