Drowning victims identified Halifax County E-911 Center

The two drowning victims recovered from Roanoke Rapids Lake this morning have been identified.

The Halifax County E-911 Center reported Tashun Lagerus Tillery and Trelvin Maquez Daniels, both of Roanoke Rapids, were recovered from the water by emergency responders.

The first body was recovered around 6:30 this morning by members of the Littleton Fire Department's dive team, Davie Volunteer Fire Department Chief David Padgett said.

The second body was pulled from the lake around 7:15 a.m., Padgett said.

Emergency responders began a search of the lake after receiving a missing person report for Tillery, 18.

He was last seen in the area of the Thelma Bridge on Thelma Road Tuesday fishing. Padgett said another person, aged 19, later learned to be Daniels, was with him.

Tillery's family had not had contact with him since then or any recent cell phone contact.
