Bell Bell Halifax County Sheriff's Office

A domestic call early Sunday morning led to the arrest of a Roanoke Rapids area man on possession of a firearm by a felon.

Lieutenant George Evans said in a press release Halifax County Sheriff's Office deputies J.M. Clark and B.R. Hedgepeth responded to the call around 2:45 a.m. and found 44-year-old Emmanuel Leon Bell in possession of a .22-caliber rifle.

Investigation showed Bell had a previous criminal record. Detective O.L. Wiltsie assisted Clark and Hedgepeth and charged Bell, who was jailed on $12,000 bond. He has a February 1 court date.
