Crime of the week - Wednesday, June 23, 2010

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office is investigating two breaking and enterings.

The first occurred on May 31 in the Sycamore Street extension area in Weldon, Major Bruce Temple said.

A residence was entered and the following items taken: an electrical stove, home heating system, copper wire throughout the house. Property was also vandalized.

The second case occurred on June 10 in the Pearson Hill Road area of Roanoke Rapids.

A shed was broken into with a dirt bike and red TAO four wheeler stolen.

The dirt bike was recovered by deputies days later.
