A dispute over a computer led to the arrest of a 22-year-old Roanoke Rapids man after he allegedly tried to strangle his girlfriend Sunday.

The nature of the dispute is unknown, Deputy Chief Adam Bondarek of the city police department said this morning.

Jeffery Daniel was charged with assault by strangulation, assault on a female and communicating threats.

The victim did not receive life threatening injuries and Daniels was jailed without bond under state domestic violence laws.
