Chalker gets interim public works nod

Larry D. Chalker, currently property maintenance manager, has been elevated to the position of interim public works director for Roanoke Rapids.

Interim City Manager Ed Wyatt said in a press release Chalker possesses extensive experience in major management positions in the private sector including serving both as maintenance manager and pperations manager for Perdue Farms. Also, he served as plant manager at Autoverters, and manager of Little & Jenkins Towing.

He obtained his education at Augusta Area Technical School and Perdue Farms’ Management Training Program. Presently, he serves on the Curriculum Advisory Board at Halifax Community College for Industrial Technology and Development Curriculum and Automotive Technology Curriculum.

“In his present position, Larry has displayed a great deal of resourcefulness and efficiency, commitment to his work, and setting an example of a customer-friendly approach to serving the citizens of the city,” Wyatt said.
