Caller alerts HCSO to fugitive

An alert caller led deputies to catch one man wanted by the Halifax Sheriff's Office today.

Major Bruce Temple said the man, Eric Lamont Martin, was spotted on Washington Avenue and was boxed in.

Martin tried to run but was apprehended and charged by Lieutenant N. Aycock and Corporal M. Almendarez around 5 p.m.

Martin, 22, of Weldon, was wanted for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, assault on a female and felony probation violation.

The sheriff's office continues to look for Cedric O'Brien Mills, 28, of Weldon, who is wanted for the following charges: Halifax County, three counts of driving with a revoked license and resisting officers; Northampton County, second degree trespassing, Nash County, multiple traffic violations, and Edgecombe County, robbery with a dangerous weapon. His various charges total more than $109,000 bond.
