Halifax County Manager Tony Brown was rated as highly effective during his annual performance review last week.

A press release from the county said the board of commissioners praised him for his performance over the past year, noting, “Brown had shown exceptional leadership during a particularly difficult and challenging budget process.”

Said Chairman James Pierce, “Mr. Brown analyzed the revenue estimates using the board’s established revenue based budgeting process and drafted a budget that will maintain services to the citizens of our county, despite these difficult economic times.”

Brown said, “Both the board of commissioners and I have had quite a challenge in maintaining county services under the current economy. With the board’s valuable support over the past two years, we have withstood the budget challenges and have kept the county in good financial standing.

“I continue to look forward to a brighter future for the county and its residents and look forward to working with the board of commissioners in improving the conditions in Halifax County.”
