A victim’s barking dog helped a break-in victim detain an alleged suspect. Police also caught an alleged accomplice Saturday night.

Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said the resident was inside his house in the 300 block of Charlotte Street when his dog began to bark repeatedly.

Ezelle, left, and Davis.

When he went outside he found a woman later identified as Kari Leigh Ezzelle, 20, allegedly holding the victim’s car CD player.

While the victim kept Ezelle, of Marshall Street, with him, there was another noise coming from the fence and police were able to catch and arrest Perry Eugene Davis, 21, of East Fourteenth Street.

Ezzelle, who told police she was trying to buy Easter presents for her child, was charged with felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle, larceny and possession of stolen goods. She was jailed on $2,000 secured bond and has a May 18 court date.

Davis was charged with aiding and abetting breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and aiding and abetting larceny. He was jailed on $5,000 bond and has a May 18 court date.

Anthony, I understand what you mean by saying Child support is for the childs everyday needs that is true!! BUT this girl lives with her mommma, sits at home every weekend drinking, partying all weekend. Cops are called over there EVERY weekend!!! She doesn't use that money for that precious little boy. She uses it on her, her boyfriend, and all her friends habits. I live in the same neighborhood as her and for the past 2 years its like clockwork RRPD is in their front yard arresting someone, looking for someone, or serving a warrant. It use to be quiet over there when they were growing up. Now since this girl and her brother have gotten older it has gotten worse. I actually feel sorry for her mother. As a mother I know hwo hard it would be to kick my children out of my home. But enough is enough. I think it's about time she finally got caught redhanded. Good Job RRPD!!!!!

Anthony, the point anonymous i think was trying to make is that she had just gotten some money. So she could have used that instead of stealing. And, you know what else? She doesn't use that money for everyday things for the child. She uses it for herself and her boyfriend.

To the guy who made the "anonymous" comment but said he sent the child support check.

Not really ANONYMOUS if you then give a key to your identity away. And child support is for the use of everyday needs of children, not gifts.

Its crazy what people would do these days. Then turn around and blame it on the kids. They didnt ask you to go steal to get them anything. GET A JOB.. Real peoople have one. But no you just want to sit around on face book all day. And come to find out that you had money because of the father stated gave child support. Probally stealing to get drugs for you and your boyfreind, who ran and left you there to get in trouble but he got caught too. He's a winner.... You need to get your priorities straight and take care of the little one.

You know, I've been trying to hire someone to do housecleaning for over a month, paying above minimum wage, and can't find anyone. The young people in this area don't want to work, but they're happy to steal.

According to Captain Jackson, his bond was higher because he was fleeing.
