West West Roanoke Rapids Police Department

A Roanoke Rapids boy has been charged with numerous counts related to break-ins in the Riverpoint mobile home park area of the city.

Advanced Criminal Enforcement Agent John Taylor charged Kenyon West, 16, of Collins Avenue, with 19 counts of breaking and entering, one count of first-degree burglary, three counts larceny of a firearm, 16 counts of larceny after breaking and entering, 18 counts possession of stolen goods and three counts injury to real property.

The charges reflect break-ins that have occurred since April, Captain Andy Jackson said. Items stolen include guns, televisions and jewelry and represent a good number of the mobile homes in the park that were broken into.

While the value of items has not been tallied, Jackson said that West receiving a $75,000 bond is indicative of not only the charges, but the value of the items stolen, some which were recovered and some which are believed to have been sold.

Breaks in the case came through witness statements and help from concerned citizens. Investigation continues and more arrests are possible.

West has a November 9 court date.

Yes, I have kids. My son is 15 years old. He's in school after school he has football practice, which I or his mom will pick him up. This is the routine for five days of the week. On saturday him and I go to the barbershop to get haircuts, then his football game, after football his butt mow the lawn. Stop making excuses and raise your own kids, it's not hard, when you dedcate majority of your time to THEM! If you are not willing to do that DON'T HAVE ANY!

They found the items in another trailer that he didn't live in. I don't know why they charged him with the stolen goods. I know him and his family had problems with the trailer park owner a week before where both parties took warrants out on each other. I think the owner just wanted him arrested cause once again the items where found at another house that he does not resideat so why and how can he be charged with that? A

I don't think earrings are the problem, it's the fact his parents either didn't notice or care that their house was full of extra guns and televisions

Where is this kid parents? No 16 year old should be out doing anything he wants to. You should know where your kid is at all times at the age of 16. I guess the parents started let things go when he got those earrings. Well buddy you just cut your chance of getting a decent job in half...employers don't like felons.
